An afternoon in sunny Ealing

An afternoon in sunny Ealing

Just got back from the comic expo in Ealing.

The big names were out in force, lots of back issues to sift through from the dealers, coupled with a liberal sprinkling of indie titles and super-nice organiser Mike who made all the exhibitors feel welcomed.

Sadly though, the footfall wasn’t as large as everyone had hoped. It appears that the English love their lazy Sundays. I was also reliably informed that some such Rugby match was taking place, which may have also been a contributing factor. But hey, chalk it up to experience.

Conventions for me have been really good this year, so if anything, this one was character building.

If you’re a creator, and you find yourself in this situation, don’t be disheartened. Remind yourself that by finishing a piece of work and putting yourself out there, you’ll always run the risk of encountering apathy or indifference or a low turnout.

That’s the price of admission into the world of self-publishing, but it’s only charged to those who’ve mustered the gumption to get something done.

  1. I’m not sure they publicized it enough.
I only stumbled upon the info online the day before.
    Shame.
